Hands-On Montessori Inspired Math
In this continuous lesson, students investigate number sense up to 9,999 and work through issues using Montessori manipulatives. As they study place value, skip counting, addition and subtraction, multiplication, geometry, and other topics, students apply higher order thinking abilities.

About the Teacher
I like studying about and imparting Montessori math to my kids in order to provide them a solid foundation in numerical fluency and number awareness. I believe that interesting, difficult, and real-world events should serve as the foundation for learning. Learning is enjoyable when it's something we love!
I made the decision that I wanted to teach first grade, and I have never wavered in that decision. I adore being a teacher! I have experience working with children in a range of environments, from preschoolers to middle schoolers.
About the Course
Using tangible or printable Montessori manipulatives, students get a solid mathematical foundation by delving deeply into number sense in a hands-on manner from numbers 11 to 9,999. Mathematically literate kids develop a passion for the subject, and I want my pupils to interact with math in a practical setting where they feel comfortable trying new things, making errors, and growing from them. Each lesson starts with a calendar time that is routine-oriented in order to foster confidence, numerical fluency, and connections within the class. Engaging activities such as games, music, and mathematics talks allow pupils to naturally apply concepts.
We deal with place value, basic and advanced multiplication, division, geometry, measurement, skip counting, patterns, fractions, telling time, money, and working with data and graphing. We also work with addition and subtraction with and without regrouping (static and dynamic addition). As we go through them together, students must have the real manipulatives (or a downloadable version) with them. A second camera is utilized in the classroom to display the teacher's desk so that students may be guided step-by-step through challenges as they become more independent. This course can be taken for a first or second grade math class, or it can be used as a refresher of first grade math. Every week of classes is different, and students can attend for the whole year or only the weeks they require.
